BRITTANY BARRY

Founder & Artistic Advisor

Mrs. Brittany Barry discovered her love for dancing in her first ballet & tap class at the age of three. She became serious in her training at the age of 10, focusing on classical ballet, jazz, tap, and modern, with the goals of becoming a professional dancer and someday directing her own school.
Some of her training includes: the School of Classical Ballet & Dance in Des Moines, IA, summer intensives taught by members of the Tulsa Ballet, Ballet Academy of Texas, Gayle Corkery School of Ballet where she studied under TCU’s Ballet Master-In-Residence, Mr. Li-Chou Cheng, Ballet Magnificat! in Jackson, Mississippi, Ballet Austin’s summer intensive, and Ballet San Antonio Academy.
Ms. Brittany has been privileged to perform with Iowa Dance Theater and Ballet Theater of Des Moines, and has been a company member of Ballet Ensemble of Texas and Ballet San Antonio.  In 2009 Mrs. Barry was hit in a car accident, resulting in a brain injury and  damage to her back and neck.  Over time, she has made a full recovery.  Ms. Brittany is thankful to God, and believes that nothing is impossible with Him.  Her favorite role was performing as the Sugar Plum Fairy in Tchaikovsky’s beloved Christmas ballet, “The Nutcracker”, because it was a childhood dream.
In 2013, Ms. Brittany and her sister, Miss Elizabeth, founded the SCBD Youth Company to provide SCBD’s dancers with performance opportunities & pre-professional experience, and to provide the New Braunfels area with many classical ballets for families to come and enjoy.

Mrs. Barry opened SCBD in June of 2010 with the  vision of creating a place where students would be loved, celebrated, and encouraged to become the best that they could be.  Ms. Brittany has a passion for instructing the next generation in the art of dance, and is grateful for all God has done and continues to do with SCBD!  With a growing family, she now serves the studio as an Artistic Advisor and helps create the vision for upcoming seasons.   Ms. Brittany is married to the love of her life, Collin, and they have three wonderful young children Michael, Sarah Grace. & baby Isaac.  They are a joy!
