ELIZABETH DOCTER
DIRECTOR
Ms. Elizabeth Docter says that she fell in love with dancing at the age of two, when she put on her very first ballet tutu, and learned to twirl and tap dance. She became serious in her training at the age of 8, training in classical ballet, jazz, tap,
and modern with the goals of becoming an accomplished dancer and learning more about the art she loved.
Some of her training includes, the School of Classical Ballet & Dance in Des Moines, IA, summer intensives taught by members of the Tulsa Ballet, Ballet Academy of Texas, Gayle Corkery School of Ballet where she studied under
Gayle Corkery, one of the few ballerinas trained by Balanchine, and Ballet San Antonio Academy.
Ms. Docter has been privileged to perform with Iowa Dance Theater, Ballet Theater of Des Moines, and Ballet San Antonio.
In 2013, Ms. Elizabeth and her sister, Ms. Brittany, founded the SCBD Youth Company to provide SCBD’s dancers with performance opportunities & pre-professional experience, and to provide the New Braunfels area with many
classical ballets for families to come and enjoy.
Ms. Elizabeth admires and is inspired by old Hollywood’s Eleanor Powell, and she has attended master tap classes taught by America’s first lady of tap, “Lady Di” Dianne Walker, Jay Fagan, and Lisa La Touche, from Broadway.
Ms. Docter began teaching for SCBD in November of 2010, became a co-owner at the beginning of 2013, and enjoys passing on a love & enthusiasm for dancing to her students. She has served as the Assistant Director for SCBD for many years, and is excited to step into the role of Director and lead SCBD into continued excellence with joy!
